Maltz opens season with master classes

Go to the head of the class this season at the Maltz Jupiter Theatre.

The theater is hosting a free, fiveweek program of “Maltz Master Classes.”

Participants can join the theater’s producing artistic director/chief executive, Andrew Kato, 5-6 p.m. each Tuesday beginning Oct. 4, when he will guide them through the process of producing the theater’s opening production of “Jersey Boys.” That show, which kicks off this season, opens Oct. 25.

Each week of the classes will focus on a different aspect of production, ranging from casting to opening night and will include panelists on the production who will share their expertise, experience and insight on how the theater creates a show.

Inspired by “Ted Talks,” participants can come to one lecture or attend them all.

The event is open to the community, classes are free and seats are available on a first-come, firstserve basis. The event will take place in the theater’s auditorium. Donations to benefit the student scholarship program at the theater’s Goldner Conservatory will be accepted after each of the lectures.
